MYCHAL EVENSON FOR AUDITOR-CONTROLLER
ELECTION DAY IS JUNE 07, 2022!
Humboldt County needs a government that works. We face difficult challenges in fixing our fiscal situation, coming into compliance with overdue reporting deadlines, and restoring our reputation. We need a leader, not excuses. Mychal is the right person to get the job done, and that’s why he’s running for Auditor-Controller.
I was born and raised in Humboldt County. I love woodworking, playing guitar, and watching the 49ers. I have a Masters Degree in Governmental Accounting, I served on the Humboldt County Audit Committee, and I have worked for various County departments over the last several years. Everywhere I work, I develop a reputation as a problem-solver and a thing-doer. I get things done.
I was called to run for Auditor-Controller because I could not stand by and watch the County's finances fall into more chaos. We are losing funding for roads, schools, and vital programs serving our community. As a public servant, I understand that this isn't just dollars on a ledger. These failures hurt real people, real families, and real communities. Enough is enough. We can meet this moment and solve these problems with good management and sound accounting practices.
Protect funding for roads, schools, community partners, and social programs
Bring the department into the 21st Century
Tear down barriers to effective communication
Use evidence-based fraud detection and prevention strategies
Complete the work on time
